I'm sure everyone is wondering this....  when will the new Bassara shafts being offered available to buy?   I need to gain some more distance to keep up to Matt next summer, so I'm going to order the new 50 gram shaft at 46.5 inches to see what I can do!

    Hi Brad,

Official availability is Nov 18th for the NEW Bassara shafts.  If you haven't already, check out the Ben Crane TT blog post.  It explains how he managed to gain some substantial yardage with the help of the NEW Bassara shaft.

I had the Aerotech Claymore F5 installed in my 909D2, it's weight is in the same realm, the only drawback was the heavy head of the 909. My new Driver is the 910 D3 with the Diamana Ahina, it was a better choice for feel. Can someone at Titleist tell me the weight added to Crane's clubhead as compared to the weight the normal shaft receives?

    Frank,

In order to balance out the swing weight with the shaft length and weight combination that Ben went with, you would have to actually decrease headweight.  By increasing the length as well as overall head weight, the club would feel extremely heavy.  Although not an exact science, for every inch you go overlength you gain about 4 swing weight points (grips are another variable to consider and will change this equation).  The team built the club with the 2 gram SureFit Tour weight as opposed to the standard 7 gram.  This being said to get the feel he wanted, the adjustable SureFit Tour weight screw in the back of the club allowed the team to remove 5 grams from the overall standard 910 head weight.

I hope this answers your question.

Frank if you are going to order that shaft at 46" I would suggest ordering it with the 2g SFT weight. But the nice part is that you can go to any Titleist retailer and pick up a SFT weight kit if you need other ones to tune the clubs to the exact swing weight you need.
