I’ve heard of changing balls for low temps and/or high winds. But never for the course alone.

You’d have to play both with great frequency to know how the alternative would play when in use.

Play one ball regardless of course or weather conditions. Adjust to conditions. Prov1 is all I play. Get same feel and response.

Tournament players cannot change during play. If they start with Prov1 must finish with that ball.

Casual players can play whatever they want.

Agreed with the other sentiment in the thread. It could possibly work if you are really dialed to understand the differences. Generally you'd be better using the same ball for consistency. Pro's actively avoid swapping balls as much as they can

I've really never heard of changing for "compression" reasons, but more importantly the overall characteristics of the ball. Flight, spin, feel, all wrapped in. I play the Left dash 90% of the time, but if it's super windy, I'll go to the ProV1 to get a lower flight. I notice the different feel being softer, but that's not why I'm changing. Not sure what the parameters would be to play a "softer" lower compression vs not? Just curious.

I never change. Compression impacts distance, spin, feel, and overall ball flight. I make adjustments for wind, course etc, but always play the same ball.

There we go, trying to over complicate this funny game. Tour pros play the same ball at altitude and difficult weather, they just make adjustments.

I do not change, in fact most tour pros I have seen interviews with do not change either. I have seen one or two pros change for a specific tournament such as the open in the UK to a lower flight ball possibly but it is only a few. Players like the predictability of a ball vs trying adapt the ball to the conditions in general.
