Do not know about New York but, if you are in Vegas it would be wise to play Coyote Springs or Primm Valley.  Coyote Springs is a Nicklaus course about 40 minutes east of Vegas.  No usually a fan of Jack's courses but this one is different it is tremendous and worth the drive.  Primm Valley a Fazio course 20 minutes west of Vegas on I 15  has two courses the Desert and and the Lakes both worth the drive.

I am going to Vegas in a week and will be playing Coyote Springs again.  Unfortunately do not have time for Primm.

I have spent a bit of time in the US. I have one played one club, that was in New Jersey. The quality of a lot of the courses along the east coast is amazing. I don't think any of the decent courses will disappoint you. Enjoy your trip!
