Winter Solstice Hole in One
By Kevin H On 1 January 2014
Tilden Park Golf Course is located in the hills above Berkeley, and is in a regional park. No houses, but plenty of beautiful views and wildlife. The 11th hole is a 240 yard par 3 from an elevated tee, with trees right, hazard left and two creeks to carry.
My golfing buddy and witness, Will, and I were trying to play as much golf as possible before year end. I'm the Tournament Chair for the Tilden Park Golf Club and Will is the incoming President of our 75 year old club, so we've played the 11th quite a few times.
It was almost exactly the solstice, 10am on Dec. 21st, and I teed up a Titleist ProV1x and pulled out my 3 wood. I stuck the ball well and it flew down the right side bouncing onto the green and rolled right toward the pin. I yelled "go in" just as Will spotted the ball and it disappeared into the hole. My second hole in one, both with a Titleist ball.
Full disclosure, I usually play the NXT, and found the ProV1x in the woods earlier that day. It's now sitting safe and sound on the bar at home, never to be hit again!
Thanks Titleist.
