The weather was cold with brisk 10-20 mph winds changing direction over 90 degrees. I walked the course before playing to see how close the KP's were as I went to play...most were within 2 feet or closer. I had little hope to do better on any of the 9 tries at the par threes. But, oh well, have fun and know my "caddie" fee goes to benefit a good youth's program.
I struggled along with some pars, bogies, and one double bogie and came upon the 7th hole with the wind coming over my left shoulder helping the ball fly.
Consensus was it was 145 yards to the flag not far from the right center of the narrow green. I usually hit my 8 iron about 135 yards but with the strong wind I figured a good hit would carry the 140 to the front of the green and maybe run up a bit close to the flag. I hit the ball square and sweet on a line about 2 yards left of the flag and indeed it hit the front edge of the green and hopped twice fading right before it started rolling on a line that curved perfectly into the hole.
I have never seen so many golfers raise their hands in jubilation at the same time. It was very satisfying and I am pleased to say I use Titleist Pro V1 whenever I want to play my best; it's the ball I am most confident with.
