NEW TITLEIST PRO V1

2009 Pro V1 delivers longer distances, improved durability and improved scoring performance to help Ogilvy clinch WGC title

Titleist Pro V1 loyalist Geoff Ogilvy secured his second Accenture World Match Play Championship in four years at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain, Arizona, taking his career tally of PGA Tour victories to six. Ogilvy has trusted the performance of Titleist golf balls for all of these victories and this most recent triumph follows hot on the heels of his switch to Titleist’s new 2009 Pro V1 golf ball which was unveiled in January of this year.

The Australian has now advanced to No. 4 in the Official World Golf Rankings and becomes the first player this year to claim multiple victories on the PGA Tour, following his wire-to-wire win at the Mercedes-Benz Championship in Hawaii.  Ogilvy now has three World Golf Championships to his credit and will tee up his new 2009 Pro V1 in defence of the WGC-CA Championship at Doral in two weeks time

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Accenture Match Play Championship with 32 players, more than three times the nearest competitor with 9.

The New 2009 Pro V1 maximises distance, durability and performance through its newly reformulated and larger core that enhances its soft feel, but generates longer distances. Durability is improved via new, high performance Urethane Elastomer cover formulation. The New 2009 Pro V1x is designed to optimise ball flight and increase driver distance through a new, speed enhancing Ionomeric casing layer that controls driver spin. Durability is again improved thanks to the new Urethane Elastomer cover.

Elsewhere, Titleist was the most played golf ball at the PGA Tour’s Mayakoba Golf Classic. Mark Wilson finished at 13-under 267 to claim his second PGA Tour title using the new Titleist Pro V1x. There were also strong performances from Titleist ambassadors Kevin Na (Pro V1x), Aron Price (New 2009 Titleist Pro V1x) and Jarrod Lyle (New 2009 Titleist Pro V1x) each of whom posted top 10 finishes alongside Titleist golf ball loyalists David Toms (New 2009 Titleist Pro V1), Jerry Kelly (New 2009 Titleist Pro V1) and Briny Baird (Pro V1).

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Mayakoba Golf Classic with 85 players (64%), compared to 23 for the nearest competitor.  Titleist was also first in iron sets (35), wedges (129) and putters (56).  Titleist was second in drivers (29). Titleist was also the most played golf ball at the European Tour’s Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open with 100 players (69%), compared to 19 for the nearest competitor.

A further victory on US soil for Alistair Presnell (Pro V1x) on the Nationwide Tour has boosted Titleist worldwide win count to 26 this season, compared to 6 from the nearest competitor.

Geoff Ogilvy’s high profile victory whilst using the New 2009 Titleist Pro V1 combined with the constant flow of victories for Titleist ball players worldwide prove once again that the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
