CRANE SWOOPS TO FIRST WIN WITH WEEKEND BIRDIE BLITZ
In a US Tour season dominated by top-ranked multiple winners, Ben Crane broke through in record fashion at the BellSouth Classic for his first career victory in only his second year on Tour. Crane followed up an 8-under par 64 third round effort with a tournament and course record-tying 9-under par 63 final round performance to win by four strokes. His final round included a scintillating back nine of just 29 strokes including an eagle 3 at the final hole at Sugarloaf.
Crane relies upon the new Pro V1xTM golf ball and 12 Titleist® golf clubs for his success. He becomes the 10th player through the first 14 events on the 2003 US Tour to choose Titleist golf balls for victory – more than three times the nearest competitor. In addition to Crane’s winning performance,
the new Pro V1 golf balls were the choice of all of the top five finishers including Bob Tway and Retief Goosen. Two more wins this week increase Titleist’s year-to-date victory count across the worldwide professional tours to 35, more than all other golf balls combined. In addition to the Pro V1x golf ball, Crane’s equipment includes the new Titleist Titanium® 983KTM driver (
8.5º), 980FTM fairway metal (15º), Forged 690CBTM irons (4-PW), and Vokey Design® approach (52º), sand (56º) and lob (60º) wedges.Crane’s success with Titleist equipment reaffirms what has become overwhelmingly consistent and clear on the 2003 US Tour, that Titleist is the tee-to-green choice of more champions than any other competitor across every major equipment category. From golf balls (10), to drivers (6) and fairway metals (9), to irons (6), wedges (10), putters (13) and gloves (6), Titleist tops the equipment leaderboard in PGA Tour victories year-to-date.
Ben Crane’s maiden Tour victory and Titleist’s dominance on the US Tour equipment leaderboard provide further proof that the game’s elite choose Titleist above all others to play at the highest level.
