Hey Team Titleist –
I came across some interesting statistics recently, courtesy of the National Hole-In-One Association. Would you believe that each year, around the globe, golfers make about 150,000 holes-in-one? That seems like an incredibly high number, until you consider that each year we collectively play an estimated 490 million rounds of golf. Before the math starts giving you a headache, let me boil those figures down to simpler terms.
For a Professional Golfer, someone who earns their living playing the game, the odds of making a hole-in-one are 2,500 to 1. To put that in perspective, that’s just a little better than the odds of a man being drafted by the NBA (3,333 to 1).
For a single-digit handicap player, the odds jump up to 5,000 to 1, sobering when you consider that's less likely than you naming your daughter "Maude" (4,300 to 1).
And for the vast majority of amateur golfers, the odds of making an ace climbs to about 12,500 to 1. In comparison, you have a better chance of winning an Oscar (11,500 to 1), finding a pearl in an oyster (12,000 to 1) or being hit by lightning in your lifetime — provided you live for about 80 years (12,000 to 1).
But as we all know, lightning does strike, and we have the proof on our Hole-in-One pages!
Read how other Team Titleist members have done it (maybe you’ll find a secret or two) and if you’re among those fortunate few who have recorded or even witnessed an ace, please share your story and your photos with us. We’d love to help celebrate your brush with perfection and you can also register for a personalized Titleist hole-in-one bag tag.
